Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a disorder that is usually caused because of the abnormality that takes place in the spinal cord. This abnormality takes place because of the abnormal curve that forms out, because of either a wrong posture or an accident and even an injury.
Usually the spinal cord is supposed to look straight, when looked from the front, but when a person is affected with Scoliosis then his spinal cord seems to have bent a bit, either towards the left hand side or the right hand side. “Kyphosis” is the name of the curve that is usually witnessed on the spinal cord of all those who have been affected by this syndrome. And those who have been affected by Scoliosis develop additional curves to the either side, which make the spinal cord look like the Corkscrew.
This seems to be more common disease that affects boys more than girls. No doubt this can affect at any age and any gender, but it’s usually that most of the school going boys that are affected. And the common age for most of the boys that get affected is about 10-12 years of age. This is a hereditary problem and all those children that are having this problem, seem to have inherited this from their parents.
But still there are many arguments and differences of opinion among most of the experts, that state that there is no co relation between the severity of the curve and the inheritance of the disease. However, still researches are going on, to see and determine the causes of this syndrome but there has been no progress made in this field.
There are three types of Scoliosis and they are as follows:
The Functional Scoliosis: In this kind of scoliosis, the spinal cord seems to be normal, but a careful look would result in witnessing an abnormal curve that has taken place on the spine of the victim. And the main thing about this abnormal curve is that it’s caused because of a problem that may have taken place somewhere else.
Degenerative Scoliosis: Tthis is mainly found in that of adults and not in children. This seems to be harsher than the usual form of scoliosis, because it also brings in about other diseases, such as the arthritis and the Rheumatoid. This adds further to the pain and the suffering of the victim that has been affected by the Degenerative scoliosis.
